Monster Energy Kawasaki Teryx is ready for the Xtreme Outlaws 250 VORRA Race
We spent the last few weeks after the Yerington 250 race to make some changes to our Kawasaki Teryx. The upgrades were done by co-driver Bob Roggy or Roggy Enterprises and navigator Sean Cherrington.
First up on the punch list was to get more air to the CVT belt. We decided that the best solution would be to run with it open and just add a guard. The side benefit is the belt can be changed much faster in the field if necessary.
Second up was more charging capacity. We had been running low on voltage during the pre-run for the Yerington race, and we know that we will need more to power lights for the Fallon night race and Vegas to Reno if we can pull that off. I contacted our friends over at UTV Inc. and ordered up one of their alternator kits.
The alternator puts out 60 amps and is a single wire hookup so it is easy to wire up. We should have plenty of juice to power everything now.
Last up on the to-d0 list was lowering the radiator. The radiator was originally mounted up real high for great ram air, but we don’t come close to running hot. Downside to the location was it really cut off rear visibility. Once again, Bob at Roggy Enterprises jumped in and dropped the radiator mount about 8 inches and relocated our tail lights. Now driver and passenger have a great view right out the back with our dual Axia Alloys panoramic mirrors.
We also received a set of spare axles from Kawasaki and Funco, and some 26.5x9x12 Pit Bull Rockers and 12″ OMF Billet Center Beadlocks that we will be running for the race.
The Xtreme Outlaws 250 VORRA desert race is set for Saturday, June 19, 2010. We are signed up with our SPOT Satellite Messenger for the race. You should be able to track us live during the race. Check out www.trackme360.com/vorra/xtreme250 for tracking. We are car 1965 – UTV.
